Ladle

Your recipes, saved from anywhere.

Save recipes from any website. Free, no limits, works offline.

Open Ladle

No account needed. Your recipes stay on your phone.

Install it like an app

No app store. It takes about ten seconds from your phone's browser. Add the app page, not this one, so the icon opens your recipe box.

  1. In Safari (not Chrome), open the app page first.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow).
  3. Scroll and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Tap Add. The icon opens straight into your recipes.
  1. In Chrome, open the app page first.
  2. Tap the menu button (three dots, top right).
  3. Tap "Add to Home screen".
  4. Tap Add. The icon opens straight into your recipes.

Save a recipe in two taps

Add "Save to Ladle" to your Share sheet once. After that, every recipe page in Safari is two taps from your collection.

Get the Save to Ladle shortcut
  1. Tap the button, then tap "Add Shortcut".
  2. On any recipe page in Safari, tap Share, then "Save to Ladle".
  3. Ladle opens, tap Paste, then Save.

Your phone reads the page itself, so this works even on the sites that turn away plain link imports. The page never passes through us.

Build it yourself

Rather make it by hand in the Shortcuts app? Four actions, in this order.

  1. Open Shortcuts, tap +, then the (i) button and turn on "Show in Share Sheet". Set it to receive Safari web pages and URLs.
  2. Add "Run JavaScript on Web Page" and put the script below in it.
  3. Add "Copy to Clipboard".
  4. Add "Open URLs" with the address below.
  5. Name it "Save to Ladle".

On a computer

Drag this button up to your bookmarks bar. Then, on any recipe page, click it and the page is copied. Open Ladle, click Add, then Paste.

Some browsers will not let you drag a link into the bar. Copy it instead, then add a new bookmark by hand and paste it in as the address.

Everything you need, nothing you don't

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. No trial, no subscription, no limit on how many recipes you save.

Where is my data?

On your device, in your browser's storage. Ladle does not run its own account system or database of your recipes.

Can I move to a new phone?

Yes. Open the More tab inside Ladle, download a backup file, then restore it on the new phone.

Can I use it on my computer?

Yes, open the same address in any browser. Just remember your recipes are saved per browser, so use a backup file to bring them along.
